Environmental Solutions

Our planet Earth is called the Blue Planet because three quarters of it is coverd with water. Unfortunatley, 97 per cent of the water is salt water. Only 3 percent of the water is fresh water. Many people don´t know that only 0.3 per cent of all the water is drinkable water. More than 1 billion people don´t have access to pure drinkable water. Each 20 seconds a child is dying bedause of dirty drinkable water. The challenge ot the 21 century is to bring access to pure drinkable water to all people.

There are many different ways to reach this aim.

It is not enough to install new drinking sources, it is furthermore necessary to protect our fresh water reservoirs.

The preservation of existing water reserves has to be a top priority for society. There are many different ways to protect these limited resources, or in other words, to ensure that new water reserves are built. This protection does not have to be complicated or use most modern technology in order to be successful.

With over 16 years of experience in this field, I am fully qualified to provide assistance. I focus on the use of rainwater and the biological sewage purification. Using accrued rainwater does not require a great amount of effort, but it can be extremly beneficial. Accrued rainwater can substitute valuable drinking water. This rainwater can be used, for example, for irrigation or in the home to flush lavatory or to wash clothes. Using rainwater in the household also helps to reduce the amount of energy that is needed to purify drinking water.

It is very difficult to purify accumulated waste water because it is not always possible to build and maintain the necessary infrastructure. Long sewage pipes and the maintaining of technical elements is cost-intensive and, because of local conditions, often not even possible. This raises the question of whether sewage disposal should be regulated peripherally. However, small sewage purfication plants can provide alternative solutions. In the field of the smaller sewage plants there are plants which work without electricity and technical components yet have impressive purifying capabilities. These solutions have the advantage that they can be built by the operator who can manage and maintain the sewage plant without effort on site. This solution should be considered when a country does not have the necessary infrastructure. Accruing sewage water from these types of sewage plants can be purified and be transported into underground containers or water reservoirs without running the risk of having the valuable drinking water being contaminated.

These solutions can be adapted to local problems. For instance, if a hotel decides to install a biological sewage plant, the purified waste water can be used to water the hotel gardens. Economic considerations and environmental protection are not mutually exclusive, but rather there are plenty of ways that the two can be perfectly combined.

By using a peripheral biological sewage plant, the local population will be actively involved in protectiong their water resources.

Every journey consists of many little steps.
